Mrs. M

It's a little surreal right now. It's hard to believe we will be getting married in 3 days. I guess it's partly b/c it's almost 11:30pm and I'm sitting at my desk at work, ... working.

Things have been a little crazy lately at the office. It doesn't help that with it being the end of the quarter, having new management and everything -- I haven't really had the time to train anyone on what I do b/c I've been preoccupied.

I have 5 ppl that will be helping ppl out while I'm away. I always think to myself, "what do i do??". It's hard to explain in words. I'm like the Chandler Bing of my department. I work with data. It's vague but it is what I do.

Some friends and I went to see Nights in Rodanthe. I thought it would be a nice break away from work (for a few hours) and maybe a nice romantic movie to get me into the spirit of love... It was a tear-jerker. Damnit..., nonetheless, it was still a good movie.

I was interrupted by 5 phone calls from people ... 3 of which were 5 minutes before the movie start. 2 were during the movie. Work work work. UGH!

It's nice to think -- hey, will they be able to make it without me, I'm not to sure... *smirk*

Anyway, I just wanted to write a blurb to again, apologize to all you out there in the blogosphere, if I haven't commented, I'm sorry. I am frazzled. I can't wait to relax.

Was going to work all day tomorrow and take off Thurs & Fri, with wedding on Friday. But now I will not be around all day tomorrow. YAY!! I need to get away from it all!!

I have a lot left to do and have a lot of help too, which is awesome.

Menus, programs, finish up the bridal party gifts, etc... it's crazy, but... I think it's all worth it in the end.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.typette.com/2008/09/soon-to-be-mrs-m.html' title='Soon-To-Be ... Or at least we think he is.

He has always had issues with separation anxiety as long as we've had him at our place. We discovered that he gets really anxious a whiney when we get changed in the morning. It's mainly the act of putting a pair of pants on, that really gets him going. He has made a connection between putting pants on and leaving him home for hours.

So we decided to put of a webcam. We actually have 2 in the house. It's kinda like a nanny cam. Anyway, we get to watch him live from anywhere. On our blackberry's, while we're at work... it's great.

He's been pretty good lately, stopped howling while we were away. He would sleep all day, until about 4pm, then he would get fidgety and walk around the house. No howling involved.

Today was a different story. I checked out the cam at around 12:30 pm and noticed him howling -- hmm, I thought maybe this was just a little bark here and there. Maybe he heard something... Then I check back around 2:30 and he is reeeeally howling, none stop, every few seconds.

Poor guy -- needs a friend, I think.

I applied for adopting a dog the other day. Same breed, same sex, same age, same weight -- and he was already housebroken, PERFECT!!!

Too bad we can't really get another dog until after our honeymoon, and the adoption facility is not willing to hold the dog for us, even if we are the perfect candidates. We want another dog. So bad... Peeps would be so happy too.

Oh Poo... I just hope the dog is not adopted before we get back!!

what's the deal

why are there so many dead squirrels on the road these past 2 days?!?

has any one else noticed?

I have never really seen a squirrel run across a 6 lane highway, so why is it that I am now seeing dead squished ones everywhere!?

I'm perplexed...

I crack up, everytime!

it's just weird...

I took off from work today for a doctor's appt and my 2nd dress fitting.

anyway, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts after my docs appt and picked up a box of 25 munchkins...

I brought them home, in their box in a bag. I left the bag on the den table --

A little while later I leave for my fitting.

When I get back home about 2 hours later, the munchkins are all over the floor.

Peeps got to them.

Bad boy...very bad boy!

I had eaten 4 i think, so that left 21 left. There were only 4 left in the box -- so what is that, like 17 donuts eaten??

So, i yell at him and punish him by ignoring him.

This works for about 2 hours -- Go Me!

He knows he was bad.

Mike is sitting at his computer up in the loft and I hear him say "Oh my God!", and I start freaking... what is wrong?!!?

I run upstairs and mike is just staring at peeps.

Apparently -- peeps was walking in circles around mike while he was at his desk and finally jumps up on his lap and gives mike a donut.

what the hell...he just gives it to him?? It was bizarre. I look at Peeps and he's like "What."

So we put the munchkin on the floor to see what he does with it. He picks it up and gives it to me and just stares at me. Does he want to play??

This isn't something he typically does --

Anyway -- we go into the bedroom and peeps is sniffing his bed. I look down. There's another non-eaten munchkin just laying there. 2 down, 15 to go! Where will we find these things?!

I hope they aren't randomly hidden. Freaking out. Having anxiety attacks. Can't eat. Feel sick.

I know it will get better.

There is soooo much riding on this wedding. So much money, so much worry about how good or bad things will be. Who will show up, who won't. Who will RSVP NO and show up. Who will RSVP Yes and back out... leaving us to foot the lovely bill.

The money -- honestly -- isn't really my biggest concern. It's all the people. Making sure, as much as I can, that no one feels slighted. That everyone has a good time. I worry about the people par-taking in my wedding. How stressful it must be for them. I don't want them to stress. Not over me. It went well.
Hopefully he stays our Maitre'D, b/c so far we've had 3 coordinators since we booked the Olde Mill Inn. The most recent I have never spoken to, and never returned any of my calls, which leads me to worry.

I have confidence in our Maitre'D -- he seems to know what he is doing, and is good with taking control of situations, which is definitely something I need. I don't want to have to worry about things the 'day of'.

The only negative thing about our meeting is that our choice of food options was explained to us completely differently than our 'sales' lady explained it to us. But of course, right?! Anyway, we will make due, and I'm sure everyone who goes to the wedding is going to have plenty of food. It's amazing -- all the choices they give you.

It was a little funny last night -- b/c all the vendors we mentioned we were using to the Maitre'D left him a little flabbergasted b/c he hadn't heard of any of them. In a way, I see that as a good thing. I don't want to use the generic, wedding in a bag type of vendors that most people use. Understandably, it's the more affordable option, but some things you just shouldn't skimp out on.

Our ceremony will start a little before 6. Our invite time notes 5:30pm. The ceremony should only last a max of 20 minutes. No readings, no unity candles. Short and sweet. Cocktail hour is immediately following and ends at 7:30. 7:30-11:30 is our reception.

I reviewed the layout of the ballroom, and I'm wondering how our 11 piece band is going to fit. I hope they don't blast everyone out either. My sister had a HUGE ballroom and used the same band and it was awesome... I hope it works here too, b/c our room isn't huge, it's normal. LOL

We are inviting close to 200 people. YIKES!! When we started out, I wanted to elope and then starting thinking a small wedding would be nice... so we went into this thinking like a max of 80 people. Yeah, well... that didn't work out. We know too many people.

Since Mike and I are paying for it ourselves, we invited as many immediate family members that we were close to as we could, and our friends/coworkers etc. We then gave each set of parents 12 couples they could invite. And left it at that. I think it worked out well :-)

The other plus-side to our site is that the ceremony & reception site are the same place, not to mention that it's at an Inn so the hotel rooms are on location as well. It's perfect for us. NO DRIVING!

Our rehearsal dinner will be at the Grain House which is part of the Olde Mill Inn (Historic, has something to do with George Washington) -- anyway, it shares a parking lot with the Inn...so it's perfect! Plus, the food rocks, and the atmosphere is quaint and rustic.

I keep fluctuating between super stress and excited. But right now, I'm getting REALLY excited about all of this.

I am taking a PTO day today to work on my invites, since I am not hiring someone to do them for me. It should be interesting. LOL.

My family and I are also going to be folding 1001 origami cranes as a gift to me :-). And they will be put together in the shape of my family crest. I'm so excited to start working on it. I think it will be a good bonding time and it will also be a wonderful very meaningful item that I can cherish... It gets me a little teary just thinking about it.

Okay -- that's all for now, back to the invites!

I want one...

The Loris is a slow moving primate native mostly to Southeast Asia.

I've become a bit emotional lately.

Mostly I get emotional at night when I'm driving and i see all the bugs who meet their death on my car. This one, however, was moreso b/c it was a bit gruesome for me. (if you haven't read it and plan to, do not read this entry or I may spoil it for you)...

After the first 70 pages or so, it was just rough... It was rough to read until about page 450.

It's not that reading it was hard, it was just a topic I didn't really want to deal with. Most of the book was based around a prisoner, in jail...on death row.
He was on death row for molesting and murdering a 7 year old girl and her father (a cop).

Obviously, as in all Jodi's books that I've read thusfar, there was a bit of a twist at the end....

I think just KNOWING there was a twist got me unnerved, b/c I just wanted to get to that part...but the book was SOOOO long.

Another focus in the book was religion. Christianty, Gnosticism... I had not known anything about The Gospel of Thomas until I read this book. D'oh.

That's all I can say -- yup -- D'oh!

I don't know what else to write about the book without writing a super long review of everything that was good and bad about the book. The storyline, the characters etc...

So I'll just move on.

The Tenth Circle -- I think that was the 2nd Jodi Picoult book I ever read. The first was 19 Minutes... I was SHOCKED that 2 books by the same author had such an impact on me. Usually, (in my experience at least) -- I read 1 good book by someone and the next by the same author just doesn't live up to it. Disappointing.

Having read The Tenth Circle -- I was SO EXCITED to see that it was being made into a Lifetime Original Movie. It came out on TV this past Saturday.

ARGH!!! Obviously, not everything was true to the book, but some parts of the movie were totally on point as to what I had 'envisioned' when I had read it. I don't like the changes that were in it though. Like, the ending was different. There wasn't as much about 'Alaska' as there was in the book. So Eck..

The thing I like the MOST about her books is that I'm always learning something...Something I never would've learned on my own. It's just amazing to read her stuff.

Anyway -- I'm taking a break for her books for now, and attempting to read 'The Prime of Miss Brodie' and 'The Pure Land'.

The first is very short...the 2nd -- looks good. Cultural books are always good.

Sue is reading an interesting book called Atlas Shrugged. Just looking at a book with 1192 pages makes me not want to read it. I have weak arms. However, I might pick it up on AudioBook for my long commutes to/from work. Sounds intriguing.

Shoooooe

Just bought this shoe - i don't know why. But what happens when the 5-6hr party is over...that's it. Now what, you're married .... AND THEN?! ooooOooOh -- THE HONEYMOON! DUH -- i foogotz (Tahiti here we come!)

Mike and I have it pretty good. We've been living together for a few years now and are 'used to' each other. We know each other's habits and I am relying on past experiences we've had together to determine the fact that we can live together for the rest of our lives...

We both have decent paying and stable jobs. YAY.

We have a place to call 'home'. We no longer live with our parents which is spectacular...so the whole mess of buying a place to live after getting married -- is one thing we don't have to worry about. However, we've been wanting to sell our current place for the longest time. Each time it's fully presentable -- we mess it up... The problem with our place is not the size, but moreso, the layout. We have 4 floors all jumbled in the weirdest way. There is no 'flow'. It's bizarre. I can't say it's "bad" it's just not a place to start a family b/c of all the stairs...At this point, I'm hoping we sell by the end of the year, not so sure about that, since that's what we said last year. LOL.

Tomorrow I'm getting my hair and makeup trial done at Depasquale's. It's a day-spa near where I work -- which is closer to the wedding/reception than where I live at least.

The price of all these things (just the trials) is enough to freak some people out. I can't believe it, but I guess it's just an understanding that for a wedding, you just pay more. Argh. I don't even have my head piece yet. My mom got a veil from someone she works with who already got married. I think I will use it...(Don't really wanna shell out $200 for a piece of sheer fabric). I just need the headband to attach it to since I want to have my hair down.

Most girls I know, are all about the wedding. All about the planning. It becomes their life. It has become mine now too, but I'm more stressed about it than anything. I'm so excited about marrying Mike, it's just the whole cost of it all and I'm not really that fond of wearing white...but for traditions sake -- I will. LOL.
If I could wear a black cocktail dress, I'm sure I'd feel so much more comfortable. Also, I'm not really one for having all eyes on her. Yikers...that is a little weird. And the whole "It's Your Day" thing -- I get it, but it makes me feel selfish.

I'm a bit of a control freak, so I think that's the biggest issue. If things don't go the way we plan, I will freak... So I've been slowly planning things and trying my best to depend on the people we are paying to do their jobs and do them right. That is soooo hard. I'm one to just do something myself, if I want it done the right way (or at least 'my way')...

2 weekends ago, some friends from work and from the meetup.com vegetarian group went with Mike and me to Pennsylvania to do some Whitewater rafting on the Lehigh River. It was a friggen blast! I had no idea what to expect...and was happy at the outcome.
We had 2 rafts with 6 people in each. I had thought there would be a guide who knew the river, in each raft, but there wasn't. Just us beginners...trying to stear a huge @$$ raft through rapids. Some people paddled, some didn't, some people fell out, some didn't... Sometimes our raft would just take us downstream while the rest of the group stayed back. That was a little freaky...and it was impossible to try and paddle back up stream... At one point, we all just got out of the raft and tried walking it back up to a place where all the 'other' rafters stopped to eat lunch. Don't worry, out of the 100+ people who were there and saw us... NO ONE HELPED!

At least I know I could survive in the semi-harsh-wild with my crew. HA!

After rafting, I, the vegetarians and Mike went to Jim Thorpe, PA. What a friggen cute/quaint town. It had the most AWESOME restaurant that catered to Vegetarians...and the food was prob the best I had since I became vegetarian in September. (Cafe Origins)

Last weekend some friends and I went horse back riding. We took a night-trail ride that lasted about 1.5 hours, through the woods near a stable in Newfoundland, NJ. (Echo Lake Stables). After the trail ride, we took a hayride into the middle of the woods where a DJ (yup...a music DJ) and a grill and bonfire awaited us (a group of abt 30). They grilled up some Hamburgers and hotdogs (I had a cheese sandwich), and we roasted marshmallows over the fire while the DJ cranked out some country music. (-- there were PLUGS in the TREES!)

After about an hour and a half of all that, we took the hayride back through the dark spooky woods and were dropped off by our cars. GOOD TIMES!

For $60, what a friggen bargain!

We are planning to get a bigger group together in August for a possible Day ride (no bonfire/hayride/food).

Oh, the horse I rode was named Maestro -- he rocked. He was in Spiderman 3 & Enchanted. He had a bit of an attitude and bit a horse and kicked another in the face. I was scared...

Mike rode a horse named Burrito... Burrito was hillarious b/c he would randomly just stop and stand in one spot and even after Mike kicked and pulled him, he wouldn't move. Mike wound up in the back of the pack holding everyone up, but it wasn't his fault, it was Burritos. It was just the funniest thing.

With abt 30 of us riding through the woods on horseback -- if one horse had to pee, they would all pee...at the same time. It literally takes about 2 minutes for them to 'complete'. Some horses walked so close the horse in front of them, that when the horse had to poop -- it came right out on the other horses face. YUM!!!

Tomorrow morning Mike and I are driving up to my mom's to drop off Peeps. Seeing 'Get Smart' at the movie theater at 11:50am. Then I have my trial at 2:30ish, and it all ends around 5pm. Then we go to dinner for my mom's bday at 7:30...then we pick up Peeps and head back home.

My mom's house is a bit dog-crazy right now. She's got the 4 (Louie, Kiko, Chip & Yoshii) and now she has 2 more she is dog-sitting for about a month ... so there are 6. With Peeps there tomorrow, that will make 7. Holy CRAP.

This is the first year, I think, that I didn't see fireworks :-( So Sad...
I was lazy today.

Oh -- My -- G*d!!!

Let's write a story together!!!

oooooh, I love this idea, though I'm not sure how far it will go --

Let's write a story together. For example, if the last sentence is "The sun was shining bright that morning," the first word of your sentence must start with a "U." Have you made any life-style changes lately? If so, what are they? If not, are things fine the way they are, or would you like to change something?
- My most recent life-style changes include how I eat. But that happened in September. Vegetarianism, here I am. The next life-style change is to eat healthier! I'm not eating meat anymore, however, my staples currently are flour & sugar. LOL

2. Do you believe in the institution of marriage? Why/why not?
- Tough one. It's tough because the 'institution of marriage' is a religious take on things. I believe the purpose and meaning behind it is good and all, however, take the God part out. I am agnostic (believing in something), so to ME the institution of marriage is this : be committed to one another physically and emotionally. Grow and learn from each other, how to live harmoniously and with respect. Create life between each other... -- something like that. LOL.

3. How's life treating you these days?
- Fanfriggentabulous...thanks! I have it good. I do. I've been getting a little stressed out with the wedding planning and how fast things are moving. I feel like I'm a little behind. I'm behind on my 'goals' for this quarter for work, only because the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the quarter have been put on the back-burner b/c of new priorities in the office. FUN!
- Besides all that, life is treating me damn good!<span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);
