Update on DreamCo
Posted By Juni on May 27, 2010
Wow, how long ago did this all start. I mean, the part where they contacted Mike and said they were interested in him to where we are now, where after an intro and 2 interviews later – they are still interested, great. So what does that mean?
It means – that since he seems to be a good fit thus far, they feel the need to do an in person interview with him.. that’s all fine and dandy – but, just so you know, it’s not just 1 more interview. It’s FOUR. Four in person interviews all in one day. It’s something like 2 before lunch and 2 after lunch.
I know he will do great, b/c not only is he a nerdy genius, but he has a personality to boot! Some people only have one or the other.
The great thing about his genius-ness (that a word?) – is that he doesn’t act like he’s all that, b/c he doesn’t think that he is. He’s extremely modest. Love it.
It also doesn’t hurt that he’s cute too. Ohhh… what a lucky girl I am.
So, that’s our update on DreamCo – still in the interview process.
And, I just looked back at my posts, and it all started around April 27th. 1 month ago… *sigh* … we have also heard this can take up to 4 months.
More waiting, but less overall anxiety… he has it worse than me, that’s for sure :-Þ
Today, I am 30!

This is me, in all my cheesy glory. Sooo happy to finally hit my 30’s.
My 20’s were quite entertaining, and one of these days I’ll write a post about them… but for now, I’m off.
My sister’s shower.

I remember telling myself that this blog will be about my life. Like a snapshot of what goes on, yet there are things I’m just not writing about. So… now’s the time to update it.
I’ll start off with this post about my sister’s bridal shower. Something I couldn’t blog about before, since she reads my blog, and I wanted to keep it a surprise.
Lucky for me and the other bridesmaids, we were able to keep it a secret …
Renee (my sis) shared her Google Calendar with me and I was able to see what days she was free. This was hard to coordinate since she is a nurse and works very strange hours and weekends too.
We tried to make it seem like the shower was going to be on the following weekend, by making some obvious requests… Like my mom asking her to help her move a relative and she would take her out to a nice lunch at a nice restaurant beforehand. D’oh! It worked though!!!
See? She IS surprised!!
Instead of writing a whole bunch, I’ll do a picture narrative, b/c pictures are FUN!!!
The shower was held at Ruperts in Riverdale, NJ
We didn’t get the private room, but we did get the entire back of the restaurant which was beautiful and worked perfectly.
It was held on April 25th, a Sunday, and they had a buffet brunch for everyone to enjoy!
This photo is a little blurry, but this is the general setup we had going.
The theme for this shower was ‘Garden Party’. Renee and her fiance recently bought a new home, and since she has a lot of the ‘usual’ stuff, we thought we’d help them out by getting them stuff for their house and yard.
These are the table setups. The centerpieces are bird houses, and the favors are little watering cans, inside each was a packet of flower seeds, a keychain and a little candle.
Some of the gifts on the gift table.
This was the gift from the Bridal Party to Renee. It was soo cute!
I had won a collapsible wheel barrow at a chinese auction and had no use for it.
So we used it to hold our gifts, which were a whole bunch of gardening things..
Here are some photos of Renee opening gifts.
So happy to get an ice bucket. hehe
Our friend (bridesmaid), Judy, is working on the ribbon hat/bouquet
Some of the guests
For the ‘wishing well’, we asked people to bring items related to gardening and everyone got a different letter. Our cousin got the letter B and bought a pair of rain/garden boots for Renee and a pair for her fiance. TOO CUTE!
A lil blurry, but this is my niece (flower girl) and Renee being goof balls.
For dessert, my aunt made 150 chocolate covered strawberries!
This cake was sooo yummy. Custard and fruit filling. But, the misspelled a few things. It was supposed to say:
“Sweetest Wishes for the soon-to-be Mrs”
But instead it said:
“Sweetiest Wishes for the soon to be Misses”
The chef at the restaurant tried to help us out with the Mrs/Misses part and removed some of the letters on the bottom. Oh well, Cake Wreck…but it was still yummy!
Here is a pic of some of the bridal party. Missing 2 girls here.
Okay, that’s all for now, Buh bye!!!
Update on DreamCo

Sooo, hubby did well on his technical interview and is moving on to the next in-person interview. We’ve decided to stay local and he will be working out of NYC if he gets the job.
Right now we wait to have them coordinate and schedule the in-person interview … and then we probably wait again.
This whole process, I imagine, will wind up taking 1-1.5months. LOL
It’s all good. The hardest part was determining whether or not we wanted to move to California or stay local. I’m glad we figured it out.
It would just be too costly to move… not to mention having to sell our current house. I know companies including DreamCo offer Relo Packages, but if we could avoid the stress of it all … I would prefer that.
Sometime down the road, we will reconsider moving out of state to give it a try. Silicon Valley is in Cali – and that would just present sooo much opportunity for Mike. But this opp right now with DreamCo, is really, amazing. Something I don’t think either of us every fathomed happening to us.
It’s still a process…so keep your fingers crossed that they love him when they meet him!!!
Fire Fire!!

I got in to some trouble this weekend. I don’t know what it was, I guess my brain was in a fog.
On Saturday, I lit a candle in our powder room, and closed the door (which I never do unless someone is using it LOL). Forgot the candle was lit. Came down the next morning and opened the door – candle was still burning, the mirror in that bathroom was all black. There was black lace in the corners (Cobwebs that got black smoke on them) – we are lucky nothing caught on fire besides the candle —
That wasn’t such a big deal, b/c we were lucky, and I’ll just be more careful next time. I hope.
It’s the next incident which I just don’t really – understand.
I was making myself some lean cuisine french bread pizza in the microwave (b/c the oven takes too damn long). The directions said 6 1/2 minutes. So I put the time in and went to my den and watched some tv.
I started hearing some popping noises and sizzling… so I went back to the kitchen just to check on the pizza.
That’s when I noticed — The entire kitchen was full of YELLOW Smoke… and I mean, Literally filled with yellow smoke. The kitchen was one big cloud. I ran to the microwave and shut it off. It hurt to breath, really bad. My throat felt like it was being ripped open – and my lungs hurt. I immediately opened all the kitchen windows and den window, grabbed some paper plates in each hand, and started fanning the smoke out of the house.
What the hell happened?? I am assuming that I put in 63:00 minutes instead of 6:30, but I was only gone for the most 10 minutes!!
When I opened the microwave there was sooo much yellow smoke inside, I had to keep it closed. The smoke continued to seep out of the microwave vent – and I kept fanning… by this time I had a towel wrapped around my nose and mouth – didn’t help much though.
One thing I don’t get is why my smoke detectors didn’t go off. They are the most annoying things b/c even a candle burning would typically set them off – and they are impossible to turn off! You have to fan right by them to get whatever it is away, so they SHUT UP!… but with this massive smoke infestation – nothing.
Thank GOD I was close enough to my kitchen to hear the weird sounds and stopped the microwave when I did.
I could not imagine what I would’ve done if I set my house on fire!!!
It turns out – the pizza was all blackened, so I guess the cheese burnt… there was not splatter in the microwave, however the yellow smoke stained the inside and we are working on getting that out along with the horrible burning cheese smell.
The next day we had guests over for Mother’s Day and had to use the micro – it smells bad when we run it. Ugh.
Once again – we are lucky – didn’t have to use the fire extinguisher!
Road Rage
Posted By Juni on May 5, 2010
What is it with people driving in the fast lane, slower than the speed limit… and you can’t get over to the right lane next to them, b/c there’s a car there going the same speed… then – when there is an opening to the right, the car in the fast lane speeds up to insane speeds that if you try to pass them you’re at risk for some bad things happening.
I cannot stand it – then, once they come up to another car that’s in the lane to the right of them – they slow down AGAIN!
I don’t really have road rage – I get aggravated sometimes with people driving like idiots, like I mentioned above, but I don’t swear, I don’t flip the bird, I don’t tailgate and I don’t slam on my breaks when someone is tailgating me (but I DO slow down until they back off, it’s just not safe).
I know quite a few people with road rage, road aggressiveness – some of those ppl have this need for CONTROL. To be in front of everyone… it’s so ridiculous.
That’s my rant.
Just Don’t…

Not that you have, .. yet .. , but just in case ::
I’ll just tell you what the deal is right now. My counter on the left side there, shows how many PAGE HITS I’ve had, not unique visitors. B/C if I just let it count the visitors, it would stay at 2. 2 being me at home and me at work. LOL.
I know I have visitors, damnit, but why doth no one comment-eth?
I have to admit, I am one who reads blogs for entertainment and rarely ever comments on other people’s blogs, but one of my blog resolutions this year was to comment … at least every other post that I actually read on someone’s page. So if I comment on your blog, that means I’ve probably read at least 2 recent entries of yours
– or maybe I just really like you and want you to know it.
A little less anxiety…

These past few days I’ve been feeling a little like ::
![]()
But, today, things are a little bit better. A little bit.
We found out that DreamCo only offers the position they want Mike to fill, in the CA and NYC offices. So, now Colorado living is out of the question. I’m a bit bummed. CO would’ve been ideal financially. The cost of living there is cheaper than NJ & CA, at least in the areas we’d be looking to settle down in… And, excuse me while I sound a little psycho – but I was excited at the idea of living where 2 of my friends would be. 1 who lives there now, that I feel very close too .. so much so, I swear one of these days we’re going to find out we’re related…and the other who I’ve known for almost 10 years that lives in NJ now… So we’d be relocating together, practically. Maybe a year apart.
Well, I just can’t think about it now. This doesn’t mean we won’t ever contemplate moving out there again. But for now. For our current situation, it’s just not in the cards.
We found out today that DreamCo offers relocation assistance/packages if we decide to move to CA, and they also offer commuting assistance if we decide to stay local – Travelling to and from NYC can be quite a load on one’s wallet. That puts a little bit of my financial worries to rest. Now if we can just find out the DETAILS of these packages, I’d be one happy woman.
The great thing about these 2 locations is that they are DreamCo’s main offices. The largest one is the HQ in Cali, and the 2nd largest is here in NYC. So I guess I can say we are definitely lucky to be living close by to one of them at the moment.
So….that’s my rant on DreamCo for now… more, I’m sure – later.
Changing Layouts
Posted By Juni on April 29, 2010
Ugh!! This is frustrating to me!! I just can’t find the perfect layout that I want for my blog.
I need to find someone who can do a layout for me. Any recommendations or offers?! I will pay! (within reason!)
