I'm a "hapa" which is a term for mixed-raced. My mother is Japanese and my father is Italian/German. I have 2 sisters, one older & one younger. I have a dog named Peeps. He's a white fluffy dog who looks like a marshmallow, and tastes like one too. (jk)
More things
I'm 28 years old living with my perfect match in central New Jersey. I'm a musician at heart. I play the sax, viola & piano. Finally starting to teach myself guitar. Music is a hobby right now, and telecom is the industry I'm working in to pay the bills. I hope to get back into music performance again sometime in the near future. Gettin' hitched October 3, 2008.

A Happy Heart...
Saturday, January 19, 2008

I started wearing a loop recorder for my heart about a week ago.

I am wearing it b/c I started getting palpitations about a month ago that became more and more frequent. Docs think it's either b/c of anemia (b/c I changed my diet to vegetarian) or could be hormones or could be any other number of things.

I don't get pain when I have the palps. but I can't breathe when they happen...and it's just kinda annoying.

I wear the recorder with electodes under my right collar bone and one under my left breast.

They are wired to a looping recorder that constantly records 1 minute and then re-records over it...

When I have a palpitation I push a button on the recorder so that it records 1 minute before pushing the button and 40 seconds after. After recording, I call a number and transmit the reading through the phone. It's strange... somehow it sends an EKG through the phone that can be read on the other end...

Interesante...really it is.

Anyway, this is similar to the Holter Monitor which is worn for 24 hours, but Holter Monitors are good for people who have their symptoms daily so that it is almost guaranteed that they will be able to record their symptoms within the 24 hour timeframe... The benefit to the Looping monitor that I wear, is that since I do not have my symptoms everyday, I can wear it for longer than 24 hours, upping my chances of being able to catch and record my symptoms when they happen.

The downside to the Looping recorder is that I have to wear it for 30 days, and I am allergic to the electrode pads sticky stuff. They supplied me with hypoallergenic ones as well, but I am also allergic to those.

They are shipping me out some pediatric pads so I can try them out... It's soo itchy and painful. I get welts after taking the pads off, and they get itchy and start to blister. Above is a picture of one of the welts that has reduced significantly (is no longer raised) and it's funny, b/c it looks like a smiley face.

I guess I have a happy heart - :)

SVA - Super PHAT Exhibition
Wednesday, September 19, 2007
Went to this show last night. It was a lot of fun. I've never been to a gallery where I actually knew the artist ;)... Click on the pic to see more from that evening!

Super Phat

SVA Super PHAT

September 12 - 29, 2007
Reception: Tuesday, September 18, 6 - 8pm

School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York City, and the SVA Japan Alumni Association present "Super Phat," a multimedia exhibition that highlights the work of Japanese alumni and alumni living in Japan. Working in a variety of media, more than 40 established and emerging artists explore how their exposure to Japanese and American cultures has informed their work.

The word "phat"--an American slang word for "cool"--in the exhibition title, plays off the word "fat," referring to work that has adopted, absorbed, taken in, eaten and digested culture and has grown, extended and expanded because of that absorption.

Here is a slideshow of the before & after pics of all the improvements that have been done.

We have to update the dining room pics yet (the yellow room) because there have been a few additions here and there.

Too bad we didn't have any before pics of the powder room.

Anyway. Check out the slideshow here : our Flickr Before & After photos

We FINALLY Painted The Kitchen!!
Wanted to go with a terracotta color. This one is Coffee Gelato, by American Tradition (AKA - Valspar).

Amazingly, it only took us a little more than 3 hours to do all the trimming and 2 coats of paint.

We are very efficient workers, haha.

A seriously bad closeup of Mike & Me in Todd's backyard.
He had his house-warming party tonight, and we bought him a cane plant. We named it Froo-Froo...hopefully it survives. *wink*

Below are 2 pictures I took at a gas station recently, on our travels from Wash. DC back to Jersey... I edited them at www.picnik.com ... I am actually pretty surprised at how well the online editing works out. It's great for people who do not own Adobe Photoshop.

Our big boy...
Sunday, December 17, 2006
Our Peeps is a big boy. He is a Bichon Frise, purebred. The breed max weight range is up to 12-15lbs, I believe.

He is 20lbs. And the vet reassures us that he is not fat, just big boned. LOL
There is discussion board we belong to called 'Fluffy Marshmallows' which was created for owners of Bichons that weigh 20lbs or more. (and boy, I've seen some big ones, 40+lbs!!)

Nice..

Anyway, Peeps has this thing about comfort. His most comfortable position to lay in is one where he is able to lay 'over' or ontop of something. For example. When on the couch, he likes to keep his feet on the seat cushion meanwhile his front paws and belly leaning over the armrest.

Below are some pics of Peeps laying on Mike while he was sleeping. Mike had a pillow on top of him under the covers which Peeps decided looked quite comfortable.

It was cute and I thought I would share.

Turkey Day...
Tuesday, December 12, 2006
I know it's been a while since Thanksgiving, but I haven't been able to upload my pictures until now. To view larger, just click on the picture.

This here is the ole turkey that was munched on for days and days...(literally). Personally, I think the best part about Thanksgiving dinner is the Turkey skin and the stuffing. It's a day to be unhealthy and be thankful you're allowed to.

This next picture is of the table. From left to right (around the table): Grandma, Mitchell, Lindsay, Renee, Mike, Me, Kevin & Dawn. The 2 empty seats at the end are for my mom (taking the pic) and her BF Dave.

Last but CERTAINLY not least is the most PRICELESS photo of the evening. Admist all the eating and semi-food comas we were all having, there was a few minutes of hysterical laughter as we entertained ourselves by teaching Grandma how to do sign language. This here is her rendition of Lobster Claws. (don't ask, but we were all doing it at the table - yeah, we can be bizarre.)
